Can I tell anybody about this trip?

Yes- If you have a cool friend- low maintenance and easy to work with- introduce me by email. I dont like drama and dont need high maintenance customers. The main reason I do this is to keep the Island and permit under “wraps”. After an intro- if they pass the kookmeyer test – I will give them access.

What’s the wave like?

I’m calling it Iguanas. It’s a 100 yard Plus world class right hander. Easy to steep takeoffs depending on where you position. SUP and Longboarders can ride it. They just have to take off down the line a bit. High performance wave..something for everybody. Deep water at mid to high tide, and I’ve never hit bottom. Important NOT to surf the right to the very end. It does get too shallow, .  Kick out sooner rather than later . Don’t be a off hero/claimer! ANY S to SW swell gets in there. if its 2-3 foor on the Mainland- you will have plenty of surf. Season is April- October. I have never seen it under head high in summer.

How long is the trip?

60 miles on open water. About 7-8  hours. Wear a patch if you get seasick. They are magic. You go to sleep Sunday night and wake up at the break. Friday night after surf you go to sleep and wake up in PV. 20 minutes from the airport. Its the most convenient and exotic trip you will ever be on.

Are there nearby medical facilities?

No. Like most Boat trips, Its hours by boat to the nearest hospital. Get MedEvac Insurance for quicker rescue. Some people bring a Doc along “just in case”. We have a basic first aid kit on the boat. We have never had an emergency because of the wave or bottom but you never know…

What about the permits and the Navy?

The boat owners have met with the Navy and aren’t concerned about boat seizure. They recieved an authourized permit . Highly unlikely any issues and certainly more of an issue for the boat owners than the paying customers. If there is an issue- we will do our best to deal with it.

Are we the only boat out there?

We aren’t aware of any regular boat going out to the islands. There are a few that play cat and mouse- like the recent Maps to Nowhere trip . It’s a long expensive journey and the Navy boat seizure is a factor. Locals in a Panga are rare but have been going out for 20 years. Its a long ways.

Is there phone service or internet?

Starlink – which is phenomenal. Free to customers.

What kind of boards?

Fast down the line high performance to Twin Fin Fishes work. I’ve seen longboarders crush it too. I’d bring a mix…the more foam the better. Always bring a step up.

What kind of swell?

Any Southern swell, or Southwest will break out there. Usually 2-3 feet on Mainland means overhead at Iguanas. The more south the better. 205 very good..190 even better. There always seems to be surf to ride in the summer. The end of the swing wide sets offer an intermediate ride so there is planty of surf for long boarders and even SUPs.

What’s the transportation like?

Just get to Puerto Vallarta on Sunday, before evening and our team will greet you and give you a ride to the boat in a nice car(about 20 minutes).  Saturday, we arrive at the Harbor early AM so plenty of time to get a ride and catch a mid day flight out. It’s the most convenient and exotic trip you’ve ever been on. You will be having dinner Saturday night at home..stupefied at the ease of it all. If you choose a 3 day trip- it will be similar to above but for 3 surf days.

What does the Cost of the trip cover?

All food and drink; car ride to and from boat; boat ride to Iguanas; a small boat (tender) to tow you to the break and back out to the line up. Let us know prior what your preferred beverage and food tastes are. Please bring up to 5% for tipping the Crew and Captain reccomended but not required .
